Naples Senior Center, a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive programs and social services for local seniors, has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Moorings Park Foundation. These funds will be used for Phase Two of the Caregivers Empowerment Program, a multi-faceted support program for family caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD).
According to the CDC, more than 16 million Americans provide more than 17 billion hours of unpaid care for family and friends with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias each year. Family caregivers of people with ADRD are often called the invisible patients, and are critical to the quality of life of the care recipients.
