Health care personnel, essential workers, high-risk individuals and the elderly will be the first groups to get vaccinated against COVID-19, according to state health officials.
In an Oct. 16 draft plan, the state Department of Health outlined how it will get Florida residents vaccinated against COVID-19 once vaccines are available.
The plan calls for a multi-phased approach initially because of limited supplies.
After staff and residents of nursing homes and other long-term care settings, and hospital personnel and first responders, the state would move into phase two.
That’s when large numbers of vaccine doses are available and “supply is likely able to meet demand,” according to the plan.
